Useful to know
- Same-sex marriage has been recognised in Missouri since the US Supreme Court's Obergefell ruling in June 2015.
- The Grove on Manchester Avenue is the main gay quarter and a useful landmark when orientating yourself around the city's venues.
- Missouri has no statewide non-discrimination law covering sexual orientation, so it's worth knowing that St. Louis city itself does have local protections in place.
- Lambert–St. Louis International Airport (STL) is roughly 14 miles from the city centre — a MetroLink ride takes around 40 minutes and is the cheapest transfer option.
- Club St. Louis offers free on-site parking, making it one of the more car-friendly bathhouse options you'll find in a US city of this size.
The gay scene in St. Louis
The heart of St. Louis's gay scene is **The Grove**, a lively stretch of Manchester Avenue in the Forest Park Southeast neighbourhood. The strip is home to bars, clubs, and community spaces, and carries a relaxed, cruise-friendly energy that welcomes everyone from locals to out-of-towners. The atmosphere is notably unpretentious — dressed-down Midwest friendliness is the norm, and you'll rarely feel out of place.
Pride weekend in June is the obvious peak, drawing visitors from across Missouri and neighbouring states, but the scene stays active year-round. Halloween is another big moment on the St. Louis gay calendar. MetroLink and rideshare apps make it easy to move between The Grove, downtown, and venue areas further afield without needing to drive.
