Gay saunas in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is one of the world's great gay cities — sprawling, sun-drenched, and endlessly varied. Whether you're flying into LAX, Burbank (BUR), or Long Beach (LGB), getting around is easiest by car, though rideshares are widely used for nights out. The sheer size of the city means venues are spread across different neighbourhoods, so it's worth planning your visit around where you're staying.

The city's gay life stretches far beyond the famous rainbow crosswalks of West Hollywood. The San Fernando Valley has its own relaxed, welcoming community, and venues across LA tend to reflect the city's broader culture: informal, body-positive, and generally very friendly to visitors from out of town.

Useful to know

The gay scene in Los Angeles

West Hollywood — known locally as WeHo — is the undisputed heart of LA's gay scene, packed with bars and community spaces along Santa Monica Boulevard. That said, the Valley (particularly North Hollywood and Studio City) has a loyal, less touristy gay crowd with a notably chill vibe. The scene is active year-round thanks to Southern California's near-permanent sunshine, but expect a buzz around LA Pride in June and during major film and award-season events that draw a global crowd.

LA's gay culture leans casual and unpretentious — dress codes are rare, and the atmosphere at most venues is social as much as sexual. Tipping service staff is expected (15–20%), and most venues prefer card payments, though it's worth carrying a little cash for lockers and sundries.
