The gay scene in Vancouver
Vancouver's gay quarter is the West End, centred on Davie Street — often called Davie Village. This lively strip of bars, cafés and community spaces has been the heart of the city's queer life for decades. The atmosphere is inclusive and relaxed, welcoming everyone from locals to first-time visitors, with a cruise-friendly undercurrent that runs through many of the venues in the area.
Pride Week in late July and early August is peak season, drawing huge crowds and a charged atmosphere across the whole city. Outside of that, long summer evenings keep the scene busy from June through September. Winter is quieter but never dead — Vancouverites are resilient about the rain, and the indoor sauna scene positively thrives when the weather turns grey.
